Are Closetmaid and Rubbermaid the same?
Closetmaid shelves snap in and are very tight. The Rubbermaid ones were just easier in that it has a slide that locks the shelves in place but Rubbermaid is more expensive than Closetmaid so you pay for this one feature.

Does Rubbermaid FastTrack work with Elfa?
The Elfa hook works in both their 12” and 16” brackets, and will also fit in the Rubbermaid 16” and 20” FastTrack brackets (though it’s a bit loose).
How hard is it to build a closet?
This built in closet isn’t complex. It’s basically the same concept as how to frame a wall with a door. An energetic beginner could complete it successfully in about four weekends. You probably don’t need a building permit for the closet, but if you add closet lighting you’ll need an electrical permit.
How high should you hang FastTrack?
Figure out what height you want to install the rail and make a mark there. Rubbermaid recommends 4′ or 7’3”, but I installed mine at 6′ after experimenting with the tools I planned on hanging. Install the rack with one screw, check the level, and install the next.
Can I cut Rubbermaid fast track?
The Rubbermaid FastTrack Garage 48 in. Hang Rail Track Storage System may be cut with a hacksaw if needed.
