What does ACTICOAT Flex do?
ACTICOAT Flex 3 and 7 are indicated as an antimicrobial barrier layer over partial and full thickness wounds such as burns, recipient graft sites, surgical sites, venous leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and diabetic ulcers. ACTICOAT Flex 3 and 7 may be used on infected wounds.
How do you apply ACTICOAT to a wound?
- Remove ACTICOAT from the package and moisten the dressing with sterile water (do not use saline). Wring out excess water prior to applying.
- Cut to appropriate size and shape.
- Apply the dressing to the wound.
- Keep the dressing humid. Change the dressing depending on the amount of exudate and the condition of the wound.
How long can you leave ACTICOAT on?
These dressings are designed to remain in intimate contact with the wound bed, stretch as the patient moves and be easy to apply and remove. Highly conformable silver coated knitted polyester that allows the passage of exudate. ACTICOAT Flex 3 can be worn for up to 3 days while Flex 7 can be used for up to 7 days.
What side does ACTICOAT is applied to wound?
Apply the ACTICOAT 7 dressing to the wound surface, either side down. Cover the dressing with a moist absorbent secondary dressing which may be prepared by saturating gauze with sterile water and wringing out the excess water. Complete the dressing with appropriate gauze wrappings if necessary.

Can I use acticoat If I have a sensitivity to silver?
Do not use on patients with a known sensitivity to silver. In patients undergoing MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) ACTICOAT must be removed from the area within the anatomical field being imaged. If ACTICOAT is being used on any area not within the image field, it may remain in place during the MRI.
