Open the clasp and pull the strap. Once it’s loose enough with a wide enough space for your foot; slide your foot through to touch the toe-end of the cage. There’s enough space to fit any size or shape of shoe. Well, don’t go wearing boots.

Are toe clips still used?

I also still use them, simply because they can be used with normal shoes, so are more suitable for every day biking in regular clothes. IMHO both toe clips and clipless have their place. There’s nothing wrong with clips, or half clips. If you like them, keep using them.

Pinch and pull the straps through the pedal being careful not to get them twisted. Slide the clasp piece through the metal bracket, logo side up. Hold the bottom of the clasp perpendicular to the straps at the end of the pedal. Cross one strap up and over onto the clasp.
