What Ultem 1010?
Production-Grade Thermoplastic, ULTEM 1010 is a very high strength, chemical resistant FDM material, making it ideal for aerospace, automotive, medical and military applications. PC-ISO is an extremely durable RF friendly thermoplastic, often used for high-temp applications, automotive and medical housings.
What material is Ultem?
polyetherimide
Ultem® (polyetherimide) is a semi-transparent high strength plastic material that can operate in high service temperature environments. Ultem® is resistant to hot water and steam and can withstand repeated cycles in a steam autoclave. FDA compliant grades of Ultem® are available.
What is the difference between Ultem 1010 and Ultem 9085?
ULTEM 1010 is actually the strongest material available in the FDM materials family. Looking at tensile strength rating in the XZ orientation, ULTEM 1010 carries a rating of 9,300 psi while ULTEM 9085 is only 6,800 psi.
Is Ultem impact resistant?
ULTEM™ 9085 is primarily characterized by very high mechanical strength and impact resistance, with a high strength to weight ratio. The tensile strength is 70 MPa and elongation at break is approx. 5,3%.
How strong is Ultem?
ULTEM’s tensile strength is 15,200 psi and it has a flexural modulus of 480,000 psi. It has very high heat resistance, maintaining most of its physical properties in temperatures as high as 170°C.
Is Ultem biocompatible?
ULTEM – PEI Medical-grades of PEI are biocompatible per 10993. Not only is ULTEM steam, gamma, EtO and E-beam sterilizable, but it’s also hydrolysis resistant.
What is Ultem used for?
Often used in the production of circuit boards, eyeglasses, food preparation and sterilization equipment, and, perhaps most notably, aircraft parts, ULTEM is known for its strength and durability.
Is Ultem a resin?
The Ultem® 2000 series are glass reinforced resins to provide greater stability and improved dimensional stability while retaining excellent processibility.
Who makes ULTEM plastic?
SABIC
Compared to PES, PEEK, and Kapton, Ultem® 1000 resin manufactured by SABIC is a cost-effective option with excellent machinability in high heat applications. With continuous use over 340 degrees Fahrenheit, Ultem® 1000 has exceptional flame resistance with a limiting oxygen index and low NBS smoke evolution.
What is the density of ULTEM?
1.27 g/cm³Polyetherimide / Density
Is Ultem brittle?
While Ultem® is also resistant to a broad spectrum of chemicals, its brittle nature makes it more prone to environmental stress cracking.
What is Ultem good for?
