The only style that they aren’t usually as well suited to, is metal. This is because you can get some humming when you crank up the gain, as they only have one coil.

Are Jazzmaster pickups P90s?
Fender Jazzmaster pickups are not P90 pickups. While they look similar at a glance, they are a bit different physically and sonically as well. Jazzmaster pickups have a slightly different internal design, sound brighter, and have a lower output. P90s won’t fit on Jazzmaster routings and vice versa.
Are P-90s good for metal?
Here’s the short answer: You CAN play metal with P90 pickups. However, they are NOT the best option for most sub-genres. P90s lack the low end and definition of humbuckers and have a muddier sound, although this, paired with their top-end clarity could be used in some styles.
Are jazzmasters noisy?
Noise levels on a Jazzmaster are higher than on a Strat pickup due to its larger surface area. You can expect more 60 cycle hum than a typical Fender (more of a P90 level hum), but Jazzmasters were always RWRP sets, which reduced the hum when the pickups were used together.
