How do you get a Pfq on United?
You will earn PQD on the following:
- Most flights operated by United and United Express®
- Most flights operated by a Star AllianceTM or MileagePlus partner airline and issued on a United ticket (ticket number starting with “016”)
- Most Economy Plus® purchases.
- Most preferred seating purchases.
Do upgrades count towards Pqd United?
PQD are calculated as the base fare plus carrier imposed surcharges. Taxes, baggage fees and upgrade charges do not count toward PQD. Currently, the PQD requirement is waived for members who live outside the U.S. or who have spent $25,000 on a United credit card (except when you’re earning 1K status).

The expiration date for elite status is Jan. 31 each year. To ensure that you maintain your status from year to year, you will need to complete the PQF and PQP requirements for your status level.
