How do I get into UTMB?

- Runners wishing to enter the UTMB® World Series Finals (UTMB®, CCC®, OCC) have to go through the lottery.

- Access to the UTMB® World Series Finals is reserved for elite athletes who have qualified in the previous 15 months.
What are the different UTMB races?
Today, the races consist of the following;
- UTMB: Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (171 km +10,040 m)
- CCC: Courmayeur – Champex – Chamonix (101 km +6,100 m)
- TDS: Sur les Traces des Ducs de Savoie (145 km +9,100 m)
- OCC: Orsières – Champex – Chamonix (56 km +3,460 m)
- PTL: La Petite Trotte à Léon (approx.
How long do you need to train for a 100 mile run?
For the 100K and 100-mile ultra distances, you need at least 9 hours of training per week for 6 weeks. Outside of this 3- or 6-week period, you can have a lower volume and be perfectly successful, as long as you also do higher-quality training.
How difficult is it to get into UTMB?
Applications have increased by 68% in 3 years (despite more stringent entry regulations). In 2016, 15,000 of you applied to enter one of the UTMB® races. This year, the organization received more than 26,000 applications for only 10,000 spots available (on all races).
How much does it cost to enter UTMB?
Registration fees 2022 entry fee : for local runners and partners: 75€. for volunteers: 49€.
How much does the Western States 100 cost?
The entry fee is $410.00, payable upon being selected in the Lottery. It’s always possible that the entry fee could be adjusted for future events.
How hard is UTMB?
Tricky terrain. The paths in the Alps are covered in loose rocks and scree on both the ascents and descents. When you are giving it full gas, a sizable hazard on the path can be lethal, especially at night. From turning your ankle to much more serious injury, many runners have fallen foul of the UTMB’s testing terrain.

Do you have to qualify for UTMB?
You can’t just enter the lottery, though, as UTMB has a qualifying system. To have a chance to register for UTMB, a runner must have accumulated 10 “points” between the start of 2018 and the end of 2020. To race TDS, a runner needs eight points; for CCC, six points; and for OCC, four points.
How do you qualify for Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc?
I would like to participate in the UTMB® Mont-Blanc in 2023, how do I go about it? Only runners who have acquired at least 1 Running Stone in the last two years are eligible to enter the OCC, CCC® or UTMB® lottery. They must also own a valid UTMB® Index for the distance of their choice.
