What is a pole guy?
A guy-wire, guy-line, guy-rope, or stay, also called simply a guy, is a tensioned cable designed to add stability to a free-standing structure. They are used commonly for ship masts, radio masts, wind turbines, utility poles, and tents. A thin vertical mast supported by guy wires is called a guyed mast.
How are guy wires installed?
The guy wires are attached to the upper half of each mast section with a guy ring and clamp. The ring and clamp are fitted to the mast before the antenna is attached. The mast ends of the guy wires are run through holes in the guy ring. The wire then is wrapped around itself at least six times (Figure 1).
