In the Haw, bacterial contamination is not the only threat to safe, swimmable water. Industrial toxins make their way into waterways through many pathways. Perfluorinated compounds, bromide, and 1,4 Dioxane are just a few that we are beginning to monitor in the Haw River watershed.
